Looking around at freeze dried food options, there are so many different companies (all claiming to be the best) that it’s difficult to know where to start. Make no mistake, this stuff can be expensive, so I would like to order some samples to taste test before making a large purchase. However, after reading countless blogs and dozens of reviews and still can’t decide who to try first. Well, yesterday I just so happened to stumble across some Mountain House products in Walmart’s sporting good section. Again, even just the single meal pouches were $8-10, but I found these little freeze dried ice cream sandwiches
So the sandwich was a bit crumpled when it came out of the package and actually looks frozen even though it obviously isn’t. Texture is a bit strange, but it actually does taste like ice cream! Not bad, not bad at all.
Now these are not really long term storage items as the package listed the ‘best by’ date as 2020, but it does make me want to try more of their products. Yes, if hungry enough we’ll eat about anything to survive, but wouldn’t prefer something that actually tastes like food? Not sold yet on Mountain House
